Living along the Maumee River has been such a blessing as innkeepers. It has to be the greatest “Perk” of owning and running The Mill House. The river has a life of it’s own. The river can change by the hour, day, week, or month. Right now it is very low, as low as I have seen it in the 5 summers we have lived here. It seems to be the place to explore as we are seeing many people, young and old, having fun crossing the river on the rocks.
About two weeks ago on my morning walk, I sat down on a swing to take in the beautiful morning. It was like the birds were putting on a show for me!! I saw 18 Great White Egrets sitting high in a tree. I witnessed the fast flapping wings of a duck family that flew right overhead. The Herons were standing patiently still in the water waiting for breakfast, and the
“cherry on top” was the Bald Eagle which flew over the river to rest in a dead tree branch.
It is so hard to take the time to appreciate the little things in life. I hope you can take some time to appreciate God’s creation. With Fall quickly approaching, we’ll soon see nature’s paintbrush in the trees and bushes in our gardens and backyard! I can’t wait…How about you???
All creation declares His glory!
